Introduction: Life satisfaction is one of the most important indicators of mental health, which is influenced by various factors. Interoceptive awareness, as a psychological factor, can influence an individual's perception of life. Furthermore, neuroticism and perceived stress play a mediating role in this relationship. The present study aimed to predict life satisfaction based on interoceptive awareness, with neuroticism and perceived stress as mediating variables in students.
Method: This applied study was conducted using a descriptive-correlational design and path analysis methodology. The statistical population consisted of 265 students from the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili during the 2024-2025 academic year, selected via cluster sampling. Data were collected using the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), the Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness (MAIA) questionnaire, the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and the neuroticism subscale of the NEO-FFI inventory. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS-26 and AMOS-24. Approved by the Ethics Committee of University of Mohaghegh Ardabili (IR.UMA.REC.1403.103), the study adhered to the Helsinki Declaration, with informed consent obtained from all participants.
Results: The results indicated that the proposed model explained 47% of the variance in life satisfaction, and interoceptive awareness predicted life satisfaction both directly and indirectly through neuroticism and perceived stress.
Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be concluded that enhancing interoceptive awareness and reducing neuroticism and stress are effective in improving students' life satisfaction, highlighting the need for targeted services from specialists in this field.
