مقدمه: اختلالات خواب یکی از ویژگی‌های شایع در بسیاری از اختلالات روان‌پزشکی نظیر اختلال شخصیت مرزی و اختلال دوقطبی، محسوب می‌شوند که می‌توانند نقش مهمی در تمایز بالینی این دو اختلال ایفا کنند. هدف پژوهش حاضر، مقایسه کیفیت و کمیت خواب و میزان خواب‌آلودگی در میان افراد مبتلا به این دو اختلال بود.
روش کار: این مطالعه از نوع علی - مقایسه‌ای بوده و جامعه آماری آن شامل کلیه بیماران مبتلا به اختلال دوقطبی و اختلال شخصیت مرزی مراجعه‌کننده به بیمارستان امام حسین (ع) تهران در سال 1396 بود. از میان آنان، ۴۰ نفر (۲۰ نفر از هر گروه) به روش نمونه‌گیری هدفمند انتخاب شدند. تشخیص اختلالات بر اساس معیارهای DSM-5 و تأیید روان‌پزشک انجام شد. برای گردآوری داده‌ها از پرسش‌نامه کیفیت خواب پیتسبور PSQI، مقیاس خواب‌آلودگی ESS، پرسش‌نامه اختلال خلقی MDQ، سیاهه اختلال شخصیت مرزی و گزارش طول مدت خواب (به‌عنوان شاخص کمیت خواب) استفاده شد.
یافته‌ها: داده‌ها با استفاده از آزمون تحلیل واریانس چندمتغیری تحلیل گردید. نتایج نشان داد که بین دو گروه از نظر کیفیت و کمیت خواب و میزان خواب‌آلودگی تفاوت معناداری وجود دارد و افراد مبتلا به اختلال دوقطبی در مقایسه با مبتلایان به اختلال شخصیت مرزی از الگوهای خواب ناپایدارتر و میزان خواب‌آلودگی بالاتری برخوردار بودند.
نتیجه‌گیری: با توجه به نقش تعیین‌کننده کیفیت و کمیت خواب و میزان خواب‌آلودگی، یافته‌های به‌دست‌آمده می‌توانند در ارتقای دقت تشخیص افتراقی و نیز در طراحی مداخلات درمانی هدفمند بر اساس الگوهای خواب مؤثر واقع شوند.
