title = {Investigating factors affecting the delay in surgery and the increase in one-month mortality of patients with proximal femur fractures in patients referred to Shahid Madani Alborz Hospital during 2020-2021},
abstract ={Introduction and goal: With the aging of the population, hip fracture in the elderly has become a growing medical and social concern. Whether early surgery is beneficial in such patients is a long-standing debate and a constant clinical concern in the management of patients with hip fracture. Is What seeming necessary is to review the guidelines on how to deal with such patients in different health care systems. Therefore, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating factors affecting the delay in surgery and the increase in one-month mortality of patients with proximal femur fractures in patients referred to Shahid Madani Alborz Hospital during 2020-2021. materials and methods: This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted on 126 patients in Shahid Madani Hospital in Karaj city during the years 2013-1400. Patients were divided into six groups according to the time taken until surgery (less than 24 hours to more than 120 hours). After that, the death and its cause in one month after the surgery were investigated by phone calls and examination of patients' files in the clinic. Data were collected using pre-designed forms and information recorded in patients' files, as well as using the same device and operator for each patient. findings: Among the 126 patients included in the study, 103 (81.74) were women and 13 (18.26) were men. 4 patients (2.5%) underwent urgent surgery. 17 patients (13.8%) underwent surgery within 24 hours after admission and 82 patients (64.9%) underwent surgery more than 48 hours after admission. The results showed that the mortality rate increases significantly with a delay of more than 120 hours. Lack of available operating room for planned surgery (60.3%) was the most common cause of surgical delay. Older age, dementia, and the need for assistance with activities of daily living before the fracture were also associated with higher rates of medical complications. Conclusion: In summary, our study showed that very long delays increase the patient's stay in the hospital and thus may increase the risk of mortality and some medical complications.},

title = {Aortic aneurysm with dysphagia},
abstract ={A 66-year-old male suffering from dysphagia with progressive severity of about three months’ duration was admitted to the Emergency department. During the last week, he had drooling and hoarseness. In the past week, he described two times of syncope. And he indicated chronic cough and mild sputum recently. An incidental chest radiography showed evidence of marked dilation of the aortic arch and deviation of trachea. Echocardiography revealed LVEF of 55% and a grade 1 left ventricular diastolic dysfunction. Also, aneurysmal dilation of thoracic aortic curve containing crescentric form thrombosis with calcification mostly suggestive of thrombosis within aneurysm was seen. With 100% stenosis of LAD, Major Diagonal and RCA, he was recommended for CABG. Aneurysm of the thoracic aorta is a very rare cause of dysphagia and it must be differentiated from other causes, since proper managements can significantly reduce the morbidity and mortality of this disease. Discussion: Etiologies of esophageal dysphagia include neuromuscular disorders (such as achalasia and scleroderma), intrinsic structural lesions (like esophageal carcinoma, esophageal rings and webs and eosinophilic esophagitis) and extrinsic structural lesions (like mediastinal lesions and vascular compression).Aneurysm of the thoracic aorta is a very rare cause of dysphagia and it must be differentiated from other causes, since proper managements (like urgent surgical interventions if needed) can significantly reduce the morbidity and mortality of this disease. Treatment of dysphagia caused by aortic aneurysm can be conservative, surgical or palliative depending on the severity of the symptom. By accurate management, prognoses of the patients are almost always good. In coping with dysphagia, gastrointestinal disorders should not be the only complications that is payed attention and dysphasia must be considered as a rare sign of aneurysms. The case report on this rare cause should contribute to better diagnosis of dysphagia aortica and swallowing difficulties in general.},

abstract ={Background: Anesthesiologists and surgeons strive as a team to minimize postoperative patient reported pain scores by using modern multimodal pain management protocols. This study was designed to examine the effects of adding different doses of adjuvant tramadol to bupivacaine solution in interscalene block (ISB) in patients undergoing shoulder arthroscopic surgery. Methods: In this prospective controlled randomized double-blinded trial, 60 consecutive eligible subjects candidate for arthroscopic shoulder surgery were assigned randomly into 3 groups. The patients were assigned to receive one of the specific doses of tramadol in bupivacaine mixture in their preoperative ultrasound-guided ISB. In the control group (T0), the ISB was performed with 30 ml solution of perineural 0.25% bupivacaine and epinephrine. The block was performed with the same solution mixed with 100 or 200 mg of adjuvant tramadol with a total volume of 30 ml in patient in T100 and T200 groups, respectively. The required postoperative duration of analgesia, 24 hours postoperative analgesic consumption, observational and patient-reported pain scores, and side effects were recorded in the recovery room and up to 24 hours. Results: Mean postoperative analgesia duration was significantly longer in group T200 (681 ± 270 min) than in Group T100 (501 ± 298 min) and Group T0 (402 +/- 223 min) (P =0.006). A statistically significant difference was found in the first 24 hour postoperative cumulative opioid consumption among groups T200 (5.5 +/- 3.2 mg), T100 (9.0 +/- 4.5 mg) and T0 (9.30+/- 4.78 mg) (P=0.009). There was no intergroup difference in intraoperative analgesic consumption, postoperative sedation score, and complications due to ISB or tramadol adverse effects. Conclusion: There is a dose-dependent prolongation of ISB with adjuvant tramadol for arthroscopic shoulder surgeries.},

title = {Diagnosis of acute pulmonary embolism with EKG changes Similar to acute coronary syndrome by bedside cardiac Ultrasound evaluation: case report and review of article},
abstract ={Introduction: Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is an emergency and life-threatening disease that despite its relatively high prevalence in ICU patients, is still difficult to diagnose due to non-specific signs and symptoms. Symptoms such as shortness of breath and chest discomfort are completely non-specific and overlap with the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Materials and methods: EKG changes associated with acute pulmonary embolism are highly variable and can resemble acute coronary syndromes. Recently, changes in precordial leads in the form of inverted T wave have been described as a diagnostic clue of PE, although these changes are also seen in acute coronary syndrome. Results: In this article, we report a 92-year-old man with dyspnea and progressive hypotension. Which was initially wrongly diagnosed as acute coronary syndrome due to diffuse inverted T in precordial leads V1 to V6, and pulmonary embolism was confirmed after cardiac ultrasound evaluation at the bedside. Conclusion: In this article, we will talk about the diagnosis of this case and the review of related texts, emphasizing the limitations of EKG and the importance of using cardiopulmonary ultrasound at the bedside.},

title = {Rotational dislocation of the atlantoaxial joint associated with type 2 odontoid fracture in high energy trauma
A case report and review of articles},
abstract ={Background: The combination of atlantoaxial joint dislocation and fracture of the odontoid process is a rare but serious spine injury that causes instability. The estimated frequency of this combined injury is less than 2% among upper cervical spine dameges. Few clinical cases of mentioned damage has been reported in scientific resources. In this article, we present the prognosis of a patient with atlantoaxial joint dislocation along with odontoid fracture and discuss how to manage this type of combined injury. Case presentation: A 19-year-old man presents with a fracture of the C2 axis in the odontoid process and posterior displacement of the atlas vertebra (C1) relative to C2 due to motor vehicle accident. posterior displacement was observed with bilateral dislocation of the lateral joints. Conservative treatment consisted axial traction with a halo head brace was performed to reduce the atlantoaxial dislocation. Because traction failed, we decided to perform surgery to reduce the dislocation and fix the C1-C2 joint.postoperative X-ray and CT scan were satisfactory. At the 6 months follow-up, the clinical picture was stable and the patient had no major functional problems. Dynamic X-ray Showed good range of motion in flexion and extension. Conclusion: The combination of atlantoaxial joint dislocation and fracture of the odontoid process is a rare spine injury that is considered serious due to causing instability. First, we treat the dislocation, then the treatment of the fracture of the odontoid appendage is determined based on the results of displacement and its stability. Conservative treatment of dislocation includes axial traction with a halo head brace. If traction fails, an open reduction should be performed through the posterior approach with C1-C2 Magerl fixation. If this approach is not possible, occipitocervical fixation is performed. The rarely-used lateral approach has an advantage in this indication, because the atlantoaxial joint exposure is excellent and the option exists to perform anterior transarticular fusion.},

title = {Compatibility of Brain CT_Scans with valid guidelines criteria in mild traumatic brain injury patients in emergency department of Madani medical education Center in Karaj},
abstract ={Introduction :Brain injury is a prevalent problem in emergency department. Assessing traumatic brain injury (TBI) usually needs imaging, of them Computed Tomography scanning (CT scan) is very useful for detecting brain pathology in these patients. On the other hand in mild TBI patients, CT imaging may be used without indication which leads to overuse and unnecessary harm to patients and also waste of resources. Due to the lack of data in Iran, the study aimed to assess the compatibility of Brain CT Scans with valid guidelines criteria in mild traumatic brain injury patients in emergency department of Madani medical education center in Karaj. Material and methods: A cross-sectional design study were used to assess compatibility of CT scans with different guidelines. A convenient sample of patients with mild TBI who referred to the emergency department of Madani medical education center and had underwent CT scan, entered the study. Patients with other accompanying injuries excluded from the study. Demographic data, mechanism of injury, signs and symptoms of patients were gathered using a check list. Indications for doing CT scans in adults were checked using Neworleans and Canadian guidelines. PECARN guideline also used for children. Data analyzed using SPSS software. Results: 267 patients with the mean age of 35.13 (±22.502) years were evaluated. 168 (62.9%) patients were male and 99 (37.1%) were female. 35 (13.1%) patients according to PECARN+Neworleans guidelines and 127 (47.6%) patients according to PECARN+Canadian guidelines did not have any indication. Only 14 (5.2%) patients had abnormal CT findings. All of them had indications of performing CT scan. It could be estimated that 43 or 157 thousand brain CT scan are performed without indication, which result in wasting more than 23 or 84 billion rials of health system budget. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate the use of valid guideline criteria reduce unnecessary brain CTs, thus preventing the loss of cost, time, manpower and depreciation of devices and also causes reduction of disease caused by the complication of CT scan radiation.},

abstract ={Background:Although anesthesia and surgery have become less complicated and more successful in the present age than in the past, surgical anxiety and postoperative complications remain strong. The education given to patients can reduce these complications. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate the effective factors involved in post-surgery training to patients admitted to different surgical wards. Method:This study is a retrospective descriptive-analytical study that conducted in 1399 on 268 patients who underwent surgery in Nekouei, Hedayati, Forqani hospitals were informed with informed consent and in a questionnaire by an impartially trained staff through interviews with Patients were completed at the time of their discharge and the quality of education was assessed and the factors involved were investigated. The personal information of these patients remained completely confidential, so it is not clear which questionnaire belongs to which patient, and in addition, the name of the surgeon remained confidential. Results:Based on the desired surgical group, it was observed that the gender of the patients (P=0.001), the age of the patients (P=0.001), and the type of surgery in them (P=0.001) had a statistically significant relationship with their surgical group, which It is due to the difference in indicators in different surgical groups and the difference in their patients (Table 2). On the other hand, by evaluating and comparing the education status of patients with the information evaluated in them, it was observed that only education (P=0.12) and age of patients (P=0.48) had a statistically significant effect on their education status, so that With the increase in the level of education, the number of trained people has decreased, and the highest frequency and prevalence of trained people are in the age group of 18 to 50 years. Conclusion:Based on the results of this evaluation, some factors affecting the results of patient education are identified, based on this and by relying on these results, the results of education of these patients can be improved.},

title = {Determining the key genes and cellular signaling pathways involved in the pathogenesis and development of aggressive types of adult leukemia/lymphoma derived from T (ATLL) cells},
abstract ={Background: Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) is a cancer with a very poor prognosis. ATLL has four subgroups, acute, chronic, lymphoma, and smoldering, with very different prognoses. In this study, we tried to better understand the pathogenesis of ATLL and the differences between its subgroups by using gene expression data and bioinformatics methods. Methods: Genes with altered expression were identified among different types of ATLL. In order to determine the key genes, the network of protein interactions between the resulting genes was constructed. After screening the hub genes based on the network centrality indices, the cell signaling pathways related to them were identified. Results:Comparing the acute type with the chronic and silent types, the cell signaling pathways involved in regulating the function of the immune system are expressed differently. In comparison of acute and chronic type with healthy people, genes related to malignancy are involved. In comparing the silenced type with healthy individuals, the pathways related to infections are disrupted. In the secondary comparison, it was found that the genes related to cell proliferation and malignancy in the acute form were expressed more and the genes related to the immune system were less expressed in these patients than in the rest of the population. Conclusion:It seems that manipulations by the virus resulting in immune escape and also in increased proliferation of infected cells have a decisive role in the occurrence of the aggressive type of the disease. Further investigations can lead to the development of new diagnostic methods, determining prognosis and even the detection of targets for gene therapy.},

abstract ={Background: Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma is the most common invasive non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. There is a strong relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and the occurrence of this malignancy. It has been seen that some patients with DLBCL in the early stages respond well to Helicobacter pylori eradication treatment, but others are resistant to it. Due to the lack of sufficient knowledge about the occurrence of this resistance, it is necessary to identify mechanisms of resistance. Methods: The gene expression data of sensitive and resistant patients were obtained from GEO site. After determining the genes with altered expression, in order to identify the key genes, the protein interaction network was constructed and the important genes were filtered based on the network centrality indices. Finally, cellular signaling pathways associated with key genes were determined. Results: CXCL8, EGFR, FN1, ICAM1, IL1B, TLR2, TLR4, TNF and VEGFA genes were identified as highly important genes according to the network analysis and the results obtained from the pathway enrichment analysis. Key genes showed a significant relationship with functions related to the regulation of immune cells activation. Conclusion: The results obtained from this study show the significant role of cell functions related to surface receptors and also the regulation of immune cells activation in the occurrence of resistance to treatment. The genes and cellular pathways identified in this study can be used as therapeutic targets and biomarkers for diagnosis, determination of the appropriate treatment method for the patients and prognosis.},

title = {Comparison of the PD-1 expression level in peripheral blood of Multiple Sclerosis and Neuromyelitis Optica patients},
abstract ={Programmed cell death-1 (PD-1) is one of the important co-inhibitory receptors in maintaining tolerance and inhibiting the proliferation and activity of activated immune cells. PD-1: PD-L pathway enhances regulatory T cells proliferation and inhibition of autoreactive T cells and regulates central and peripheral tolerance. This pathway has affected various aspects of the immune system and is of particular importance in a variety of diseases, such as autoimmune diseases. Multiple sclerosis (MS) and Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) are neurological disorders characterized by inflammation, demyelination by the immune system, and axonal and neuronal damage in the CNS. The clinical manifestations of NMO are very similar to MS and lead to a misdiagnosis. Therefore, the existence of specific diagnostic markers is of particular importance for correct diagnosis. Here, we examined the expression of the PD-1 gene in 40 MS patients, 20 NMO patients, and 15 healthy individuals. Thus, after RNA extraction from human blood and cDNA synthesis, gene expression of PD-1 was investigated using quantitative real-time PCR technique. The results show that the PD-1 mRNA expression in the peripheral blood of the MS group was significantly increased in comparison to that of the NMO group and healthy group (p= 0.0008, p= 0.0024, respectively). However, there was no significant difference in PD-1 mRNA expression between the NMO group and the healthy group.},

title = {Investigating the effect of amniotic membrane solution on the behavior of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells in an in vitro condition},
abstract ={Introduction and objectives: Mesenchymal stem cells are a promising approach for the regeneration of damaged tissues. Engineered scaffolds loaded with cells is one of the methods of cell transplantation at the site of injury. However, viability of the cells loaded in the scaffold is still a challenge. Growth factors have a proven role in increasing the metabolic activity of cells. Amniotic membrane solution is a rich source of growth factor. The aim of this study was to determine the optimal concentration of amniotic membrane solution on the behavior of mesenchymal stem cells in in vitro. Methods: Amniotic membrane solution was prepared by enzymatic method in predetermined concentrations. Mesenchymal stem cells loaded in hydrogel were treated with different concentrations. The viability, proliferation, and metabolic activity of the cells were evaluated. Results: Cytotoxicity of amniotic membrane solution was measured by MTT method. Increasing the concentration from 0.1 to 1 mg/ml did not show any toxicity, and at the concentration of 1.5 mg/ml, a decrease in optical density (OD=0.58±0.012) was observed compared to the control (OD=0.39±0.014). The metabolic activity of the cell loaded in the hydrogel at a concentration of 1 mg/ml had a significant increase compared to the control group ( p 0.012) and the amount of DNA content in this group (19.6 ± 0.9 ng/matrix) confirmed it. Conclusion: It is suggested that amniotic membrane solution as a rich source of growth factor with an optimal dose of 1mg/ml increases the viability and metabolic activity of the MSCs-loaded scaffold for cell therapy.},

title = {Studying the change in transcription level of beta-catenin gene in PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell line treated with clove extract},
abstract ={Pancreatic cancer development is a complex biological process in which various genes are involved. The β-catenin/Wnt signaling pathway plays an important role in the development of pancreatic cancer. In this research, the effect of clove polyphenol extract on PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell line and the changes in β-catenin gene expression were evaluated. PANC-1 pancreatic cancer cell line was purchased from the Royan center of Isfahan. After successive passages in order to perform MTT assay, the cells were cultured in 96-well culture plates and treated for 24 hours with different concentrations of clove plant extract, and the absorbance of the samples was determined at a wavelength of 570 nm. By interpreting the results of the MTT test, the IC50 value of clove extract was determined. Based on IC50, PANC1 cells were cultured under treatment with extract and without treatment (control), and then using the kit, RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis were done from the cells. Using specific primers for β-catenin gene and actin reference gene, real-time PCR was performed and then interpreted by 2-DDCT method. The compounds in clove extract were also determined by mass GC method. The results of MTT assay showed that the IC50 of clove extract in PANC1 cell line is in the range of 10 mg/ml and with increasing concentration of clove extract, cell survival is completely decreased. Examining the transcriptional change of β-catenin gene under the treatment of IC50 concentration of clove extract also showed that this extract is able to decrease the expression of this gene by 1.29 times at the level of transcription at a significant level of p<0.05, which due to the unconventional increase of β-catenin catenin in all types of cancer, reducing the expression of this gene under the treatment of clove extract can be desirable.},

abstract ={The concept of the Physiome Project was presented to provide a quantitative description of the physiological dynamics and functional behavior of the intact organism as a whole. The human body is a complex system, and this complexity is present in all components from genes to environment, lifestyle, and aging. The definitive goal of the Physiome Project is to create a "virtual physiological human" by assembling reliable and advanced computational models so that it can be studied and evaluated with a holistic perspective through system's theory in the laboratory and therapeutic settings. This process is started through the creation of modeling at molecular and cellular levels, and by connecting its components with the help of virtual reality, it will be considered as a connected whole to form a virtual physiological human. To achieve this goal in the Physiome Project, other branches of knowledge along with medical sciences are used as interdisciplinary collaborations. Although this project has had various ups and downs, but in general, it has made acceptable progress in applying different sciences together, and therefore, it seems that the process of the Physiome Project can be used to create a suitable model in the formation of interdisciplinary studies.},

abstract ={Introduction and objectives: Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen that plays a major role in the development of nosocomial infections. One of the most important mechanisms of resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics is the production of beta-lactamase enzymes by this bacterium. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of AmpC beta-lactamase producing clinical isolates of K. pneumoniae in Guilan and investigating the inhibitory effect thymol on these isolates. Methods: Sixty isolates of K. pneumoniae were isolated and identified from clinical laboratories in Rasht during 2022. The pattern of antibiotic susceptibility in isolates was determined and beta-lactamase production was investigated using combined disk method. The presence of AmpC encoding genes including FOX, CITM and DHAM beta-lactamase genes in isolates was determined by PCR. The growth inhibitory effect of thymol on these isolates was determined using disck diffusion and broth microdilution and the efflux inhibitory effect was determined by Cartwheel methods. Results: Among tested isolates 46 (76.6%) showed multi drug resistant phenotype. Of the 22 phenotypically AmpC-producing isolates, CITM and DHAM genes were detected in 12 (20%) and 7 (11.66%) isolates respectively and 4 isolates had both CITM and DHAM genes at the same time. Thymol, showed growth and efflux inhibitory effects against all tested K. pneumoniae isolates. Conclusion: The results of the present study suggest the necessity of finding a successful treatment option to prevent the spread of infections caused by AmpC producing K. pneumoniae. According to the results, the use of thymol can provide a basis for the development of a new treatment against multi-drug resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae.},

title = {GABA Signaling in Spatial Memory changes in Animal Model of Alzheimer’s disease},
abstract ={Introduction: Alzheimer's disease is a progressive disease with mild memory loss that eventually leads to the loss of the ability to conduct conversation and react to the environment. Despite the proven role of the drugs used against the obvious causes of Alzheimer's disease, it still seems impossible to achieve an effective and permanent treatment for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. So, investigating different angles of GABAergic system signaling can be introduced as a promising target for the development of anti-Alzheimer drugs. Materials and Methods: To induce Alzheimer's disease, the β-amyloid toxin at a dose of 5µg/µl was injected bilaterally into the hippocampus of Wistar male rats, and the rats were then treated with bilateral injection of GABA-A receptor agonist (muscimol) and antagonist (bicuculline), at a dose of 100 ng/µl/side in the hippocampus for 4 days. To assess the spatial memory of the animals, the parameters of the distance traveled by the animals, latency time to reach the hidden platform, and velocity of the animals were analyzed in Morris water maze test. Findings: The distance traveled and the latency time to reach the hidden platform increased in the Morris water test following the injection of beta-amyloid, and the muscimol increased the amount of this memory impairment. The injection of bicuculline could not significantly change the spatial memory of the animals. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate the destructive effect of beta-amyloid toxin on spatial memory, as well as the destructive role of muscimol in memory consolidation and retrieval.},

title = {The Anti-diabetic Effect of the Mixture of Trigonella Foenum-graecum, Vaccinium Arctostaphylost, Silibum Marianum, dioica Urtica, Melissa Officinalis and Citrulluscolocynthis Extracts in the Diabetic Rat Animal Model and Evaluation of Possible Liver Complications.},
abstract ={Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by insulin deficiency or dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate the anti-diabetic effects of a mixture of extracts from "Trigonella foenum-graecum", "Vaccinium arctostaphylos", "Silybum marianum", "Urtica dioica", "Melissa officinalis", and "Citrullus colocynthis" in a diabetic rat model, as well as to evaluate potential liver complications associated with this extract. Methods: In this experimental study, thirty male Wistar rats were rendered diabetic through intraperitoneal administration of alloxan (60 mg/kg). One week post-induction, diabetic rats were randomly assigned to five groups of six. The negative control group received distilled water via gavage, the positive control group received metformin (100 mg/kg), and three experimental groups received daily gavage of the plant extract mixture at doses of 150, 300, and 600 mg/kg, respectively. After 30 days of treatment, blood samples were collected from the tail to assess fasting blood sugar (FBS) and liver biomarkers. Subsequently, the rats were anesthetized with ketamine and xylazine, and liver tissue was prepared for histopathological evaluation using hematoxylin-eosin staining and light microscopy. Results: The extract at doses of 300 and 600 mg/kg significantly reduced FBS and hpp2 levels. However, the 600 mg/kg dose resulted in a significant increase in liver enzymes and induced liver tissue damage. Conclusion: The mixture of plant extracts demonstrated an anti-diabetic effect at a dosage of 300 mg/kg without toxic effects on the liver. These findings suggest potential therapeutic benefits of the extract in managing diabetes while highlighting the need for caution at higher dosages.},

title = {Designing and Evaluating Psychometric Properties of two scales of the Factors Contributing to Errors and Reporting Barriers in the Operating Room from the Viewpoints of Student},
abstract ={Introduction: Patient safety is crucial for effective healthcare delivery, and operating rooms (ORs) are among the most hazardous environments in hospitals. Identifying factors that contribute to errors and barriers to reporting them is essential. This study aimed to design and evaluate the psychometric properties of scales measuring factors influencing error occurrence and barriers to error reporting in the OR, as perceived by operating room and anesthesia students in 2022. Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study was conducted in 2022 with 270 operating room and anesthesia students from Alborz University of Medical Sciences. Two scales were developed: one for “factors affecting the occurrence of errors” and another for “barriers to error reporting,” informed by literature review and expert panel insights. The scales underwent evaluation for face, content, and construct validity, as well as reliability assessment. Results: Following revisions for face validity, the content validity ratio (CVR) and content validity index (CVI) for all items exceeded 0.62 and 0.7, respectively. Exploratory factor analysis revealed four factors for the error occurrence scale: individual factors (8 items), educational-skill factors (6 items), environmental factors (4 items), and managerial factors (4 items). Cronbach's alpha values ranged from 0.79 to 0.90, and McDonald's omega values from 0.7 to 0.87. For the error reporting scale, three factors emerged: legal consequences (11 items), management factors (4 items), and reporting process (4 items). Cronbach's alpha for these factors ranged from 0.86 to 0.95, and McDonald's omega from 0.7 to 0.89. Conclusion: The developed scales demonstrated acceptable validity and reliability, making them suitable for assessing the factors influencing errors and reporting barriers in ORs from the perspective of operating room and anesthesia students. Addressing these factors can enable educational and medical managers to implement effective strategies to enhance patient safety by reducing errors and improving the reporting process in hospital ORs.},

title = {Effect of parsley (Petroselinum crispum) extract on memory impairment and anxiety induced by immobilization stress in adult male rats},
abstract ={Background and purpose: Chronic immobilization stress can damage the nervous system, leading to learning and memory disorders, anxiety, and depression. Parsley (Petroselinum crispum) is known for its antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties. This study investigates the effects of hydroalcoholic extract of parsley on learning, spatial memory, and anxiety behavior in adult male Wistar rats subjected to chronic immobility stress. Materials and methods: Sixty rats were divided into six groups: control, stress, Parsley 1 (1 mg/kg), Parsley 2 (2 mg/kg), stress-parsley 1, and stress-parsley 2. For 21 consecutive days, rats were restrained for 6 hours daily to induce stress. Hydroalcoholic extracts of parsley were administered via gavage at doses of 1 and 2 mg/kg during this period. Spatial learning and memory were assessed using the Morris water maze, while anxiety behavior was evaluated with the elevated plus maze. Results: In the Morris water maze, stress-parsley groups 1 and 2 showed a significant reduction in the time and distance traveled to reach the hidden platform compared to the stress group (p < 0.01 and p < 0.05, respectively). In the probe test, these groups spent a greater distance and time in the target quadrant compared to the stress group (stress-parsley group 1, p < 0.05; stress-parsley group 2, p < 0.01). Additionally, the elevated plus maze results indicated that the percentage of entries into the open arm and time spent in this arm were significantly higher in the stress-parsley groups compared to the stress group (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Hydroalcoholic extract of parsley improved learning and spatial memory while reducing anxiety behavior in rats exposed to chronic immobility stress, suggesting its potential therapeutic effects for stress-induced disorders.},

title = {Antibacterial effects of Trigonella foenum-graceum L. and Kellusia odoratissima Mozaff versus 0.2% chlorhexidine on Streptococcus mutans count: An in vitro study},
abstract ={Introduction Tooth decay is a prevalent chronic disease worldwide; preventive care is essential for its management. Despite some side effects, Chlorhexidine mouthwash is the gold standard for controlling plaque and preventing caries. This study evaluates the antibacterial effects of "Trigonella foenum-graceum" L. and "Kellusia odoratissima" Mozaff extracts on "Streptococcus mutans" compared to 0.2% chlorhexidine mouthwash. Materials & Methods This laboratory study involved preparing herbal extracts of "Trigonella foenum-graceum" L. and "Kellusia odoratissima" Mozaff. The Well Diffusion Agar test measured the inhibition zone diameter at a concentration of 100,000 ppm for the extracts and chlorhexidine mouthwash, with chlorhexidine and distilled water serving as positive and negative controls, respectively. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Bactericidal Concentration (MBC) were determined for the extracts and mouthwash. Finally, the "Streptococcus mutans" count was assessed after exposure to the extracts and mouthwash. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0, applying the Kruskal-Wallis test for group comparisons and the Mann-Whitney U test for pairwise comparisons. Results The study reported three key findings. The inhibition zone diameters were 19 mm for chlorhexidine mouthwash, 0 mm for "Trigonella foenum-graceum" L., and 13 mm for "Kellusia odoratissima” Mozaff. MIC values were 6250 ppm for chlorhexidine, >100000 ppm for "Trigonella foenum-graceum", and 50000 ppm for "Kellusia odoratissima", with corresponding MBC values of 12500 ppm, >100000 ppm, and 100000 ppm. Significant differences in bacterial reduction percentages were noted after 30 minutes and 6 hours (both: p<0.001), with chlorhexidine showing the highest efficacy at 30 minutes, while "Kellusia odoratissima" Mozaff had the highest efficacy at 6 hours. Conclusion This study demonstrated that "Kellusia odoratissima" Mozaff extract has antibacterial effects comparable to chlorhexidine, while "Trigonella foenum-graceum" L. showed limited antibacterial activity against "Streptococcus mutans".},

abstract ={In March 2020, the World Health Organization announced that the disease caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID-19) had become a pandemic. This virus was first identified in Wuhan, China. Among the high-risk groups during the COVID-19 pandemic are individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). Many experienced practitioners in the treatment of MS have noted that it is still unclear whether MS treatment with medication affects the susceptibility to or the clinical severity of COVID-19 infection. However, based on most current articles, medications with the highest levels of immunosuppression (such as CD-20 inhibitors like Rituximab) are likely not suitable for treating MS patients during the COVID-19 epidemic, although there is no scientific evidence to prove this. This study examines a 44-year-old woman with known MS who was treated with Zytux (Rituximab) and received her last dose in early February 2020, coinciding with the onset of the COVID-19 epidemic. On March 21, 2020, less than a month after the injection, she presented with symptoms of cough, fever, and myalgia, and was ultimately diagnosed with COVID-19. The patient was hospitalized and died during admission due to respiratory failure.},

title = {An Iranian Adolescent with Disorders of Sex Development: A Case Report of 46,XX Male Disorder and Literature Review},
abstract ={The 46,XX male disorder of sexual development is a rare condition, occurring in approximately one in 20,000 live male births. Clinical manifestations can include testicular atrophy, azoospermia, gynecomastia, short stature, cryptorchidism, hypospadias, and micropenis. We present the case of a 13-year-old Iranian boy referred for delayed puberty. Physical examination revealed small testes and micropenis, corresponding to a Tanner stage of G1 for genitalia and P3-4 for pubic hair. Laboratory tests indicated hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, and karyotyping confirmed a 46,XX karyotype. The patient was started on testosterone enanthate at a dosage of 300 mg every three weeks. Additionally, long-term psychological support and regular gonadal monitoring were incorporated into the management plan.},

abstract ={Meniere's disease is characterized by recurrent episodes of vertigo, sensorineural hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural fullness, with endolymphatic hydrops being the most significant histopathological change associated with the condition. The etiology of Meniere's disease and the connection between its symptoms and endolymphatic hydrops remain unclear and controversial. Approximately 3% of patients with Meniere's disease are pediatric, leading to a scarcity of studies focused on this demographic. This report presents a rare case of Meniere's disease in a child. The patient was a 14-year-old girl who visited the Echo Hearing-Balance Clinic in Mashhad, reporting hearing loss and tinnitus. Evaluations revealed low-frequency hearing loss, and MRI results were completely normal. A comprehensive assessment, including medical history, audiological findings, electrophysiological tests, and vestibular evaluations, indicated a diagnosis of Meniere's disease.},

abstract ={In March 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that the disease caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus (COVID-19) is a pandemic. The initial symptoms of COVID-19 typically include fever, dry cough, and fatigue. Although cerebrovascular symptoms and strokes have also been mentioned as complications of COVID-19, the exact pathophysiology of these conditions is still not fully understood, and the route of virus entry into the nervous system remains unclear, with various hypotheses proposed. Regarding brain hemorrhage and its connection to COVID-19, a study raised the question of whether COVID-19 is the cause of this complication or merely a coincidence. It has been hypothesized that the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor, present in the endothelial cells of cerebral vessels and involved in vascular autoregulation and cerebral blood flow, may be affected by COVID-19, potentially leading to disturbances in cerebral autoregulation and ultimately resulting in the rupture of cerebral vessels. This case report presents a 76-year-old man with brain hemorrhage and concurrent COVID-19, confirmed by PCR testing.},
