Introduction: Multiple sclerosis is a common autoimmune disease that, due to its widespread and debilitating symptoms, has a profound impact on patients' quality of life and can threaten a person's independence. The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the "Captain's Log" cognitive rehabilitation software on the quality of life of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) in Shiraz.
Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test design. The statistical population was all patients with multiple sclerosis living in Shiraz in the winter of 1403 who had been referred to the Shiraz MS Association for consultation. 32 individuals were selected using convenience sampling and randomly assigned to two groups of 16 people each, called the experimental and control groups. Patients in the intervention group participated in 12 sessions of computer-based cognitive rehabilitation using the "Captain's Log" software, held twice a week for 60 minutes each session. The research tools consisted of the standard MS Impact Scale (MSIS-29) questionnaire and the "Captain's Log" software.
Results: Data analysis utilizing a t-test revealed a significant difference between the post-test means of the experimental and control groups (P < 0.01).
Conclusion: The findings suggest that cognitive rehabilitation (using the "Captain's Log" program) can significantly improve the quality of life for patients with MS.
