Background: Dental students are prone to musculoskeletal pain, the high prevalence of these problems among students can be the basis for their expansion in the future. Therefore, the present study was designed with the aim of investigating the prevalence of general history of pains and musculoskeletal disorders among dental students of Alborz University of Medical Sciences in 2022.
Methods: In this descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study, 161 students were interested in participating in the study. This study was conducted using a questionnaire that included demographic questions and the Persian version of the Nordic Standard Questionnaire. The data of this study were analyzed using chi-square and Fisher's exact tests and SPSS version 22 software.
Results: The results showed that 79.6% of students had experienced skeletal problems in the past. The most common places of conflict were the neck, lower back and shoulders. The results showed a higher prevalence of these disorders in female students. In this study, the existing symptoms had a statistically significant relationship with gender, academic semester, physical activity and clinical activity of the students.
Conclusion: The prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among the students of this study was relatively high, which indicates the need to pay more attention to the proper training of ergonomic principles in order to prevent the spread of these problems in this group.
